JBM
Ecolife Pvt. Ltd., a leading Indian electric bus manufacturer and part of JBM
Auto, has further strengthened its national electric mobility footprint with
new deployments across key Indian cities. With these launches, JBM now has over
3,000 electric buses running in India, advancing the country’s transition to
clean, sustainable public transport.
In
New Delhi, Chief Minister, Smt. Rekha Gupta inaugurated 103 JBM Ecolife,
9-metre low-floor air-conditioned electric buses post which they were inducted
into the city’s public transport fleet. With this rollout, JBM’s electric bus
fleet in Delhi is now close to 1,000 buses, reinforcing the capital’s shift
towards zero-emission urban mobility.
Separately,
under the Government of India’s PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, JBM Ecolife has signed a
strategic agreement with the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation (GMC) to supply
100 electric buses. In the first phase, 40 electric buses will be supplied by
the end of FY25–26, with the rollout set to take JBM’s operational fleet in
Gujarat to close to 500 electric buses. Under this partnership, JBM Ecolife
will deliver fully air-conditioned, 25-seater intra-city electric buses
equipped with CCTV cameras, automatic doors and accessibility features for
senior citizens and differently abled passengers. These environment-friendly
buses will operate across designated routes to improve last-mile connectivity
and reduce carbon emissions, supported by a modern depot and charging
infrastructure being developed for seamless operations.
“This
multi-city expansion demonstrates our unwavering focus on building a robust,
green mobility ecosystem across India through innovation, quality and smart
infrastructure,” said Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, JBM
Auto Ltd. “From Delhi to Gandhinagar and many other cities, our solutions are
helping public transport operators deliver safe, comfortable and sustainable
mobility to millions of citizens every day.”
Over
the last five years, JBM electric buses have clocked more than 300 million
electric kilometres, served over 1 billion passengers and saved over 1 billion
kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions. These buses are manufactured
at JBM’s integrated state-of-the-art facility, one of the largest electric bus
manufacturing plants in the world (outside China), with an annual capacity of
20,000 electric buses, underscoring the company’s commitment to India’s
net-zero vision by 2070.
